Google Enhanced Conversions

Enhanced Conversions is a Google Ads feature that allows you to send hashed (encrypted) customer data (such as Email, Phone) along with conversion data.

Why Enhanced Conversions?

By default, Google uses cookies to identify users. However, if cookies are lost (due to browser privacy or device change), conversions may not be counted.

By sending the Email or Phone data of converting users, Google can match this data with their Google account database (Gmail/YouTube/etc) and recover lost conversion attribution.

Impact: Recorded Conversion Rate increase averaging 5% - 17%.

Requirements

  • Using Direct Google Ads API (Advanced) with a valid Conversion Action, or another Google Ads setup that supports Enhanced Conversions.
  • Having customer data at conversion time (Email/Phone).

How to Enable

1. In Google Ads

  1. Open Google Ads > Goals > Settings.
  2. Open the Enhanced conversions section.
  3. Check Turn on enhanced conversions.
  4. Select API as the sending method.
  5. Save.

2. In Konektor

Konektor already handles the hashing and sending process automatically if you use the native Google Ads integration with a valid Conversion Action.

Every time there is a new lead with Qualified or Purchase status (based on your settings), Konektor sends these Enhanced Conversions identifiers to Google Ads:

  • hashed_email: SHA256 of user email.
  • hashed_phone_number: SHA256 of phone number (E.164 format).
  • transaction_id: Unique transaction ID for deduplication.

Uses the same Conversion Action

Enhanced Conversions uses the same Conversion Action that you configure in the Google Pixel. For direct mode, the field used in Konektor is still the Action ID from ctId.

Sync log statuses

When Konektor sends Enhanced Conversions identifiers to Google, the detailed result appears in Sync Logs:

  • accepted: Google accepted the payload.
  • partial_failure: Google accepted the request, but some identifiers were rejected or need review.
  • failed: the request failed before Google accepted it.
  • skipped: Konektor did not send the event because identifiers, consent, or configuration were not sufficient.

Validating Setup

It takes up to 48-72 hours for Google to process Enhanced Conversions data.

To check status:

  1. Open the Conversion Action details page in Google Ads.
  2. Look at the Status column.
  3. If successful, status will change to "Recording (Enhanced conversions active)".

Troubleshooting Issues

If you see "Needs attention" warning:

  • Ensure your form requires Email/Phone.
  • Ensure phone number format uses country code (628...).
  • Check if conversion volume is large enough for Google to perform validation.
