Best Ad Tracking Software? 7 Requirements by Konektor.id

To find the best ad tracking software, Konektor.id gives 7 requirements that you can test yourself, not a ranking. For a business that closes on WhatsApp, the software must record chats, link them to the ad click, send closings from a server, reach every ad platform, prevent duplicate events, show cost and closings, and allow a free test.

From Rp199.000/month. 14-day trial.

Why does choosing ad tracking software feel so hard?

A search for "best ad tracking software" returns a long list. The list rarely asks one important question: where does your closing happen?

If your closing happens on a checkout page, a pixel and the standard Conversions API are enough for many businesses. If your closing happens in a WhatsApp chat, the story is different. The buyer clicks an ad, writes a message, negotiates with your team, and then pays. All of that happens outside your website. The ad platform sees none of it.

So one tool can be best for an online shop with a checkout, and a poor fit for a travel agency that closes in chat. This page gives no ranking. It gives a list of requirements that you can test on any software, Konektor.id included.

Konektor.id is one option. This page also states what Konektor.id does not cover, so you do not pay for something you do not need.

Before you test any tool, write down three things. Where does your closing happen? Which ad platforms do you use? Who changes the lead status when a sale is done: a person, a rule, or another system? The answers decide which of the seven requirements matter most for you.

A fictional example

Picture Bimbel Contoh, a fictional tutoring business. It runs Click-to-WhatsApp ads. A prospective student named Rani writes a message, receives a package offer, and pays by bank transfer. The whole process happens in the chat. The names and numbers in this example are fictional.

In its ad report, Bimbel Contoh sees only the number of incoming chats. It cannot see which ad produced Rani as a paying student. The seven requirements below close that gap.

What are the 7 requirements for ad tracking software when you close on WhatsApp?

These seven requirements start from one question: does the closing signal reach the ad platform correctly? Each requirement has a test that you can run during a trial. Under each one, a note says what Konektor.id covers.

Requirement 1: Does the software record chats, not only clicks?

A click on an ad or a button does not always mean a conversation. Many people click and leave. Software that counts only clicks makes your report look good while your team receives no message.

How to test: send one real message from a test ad or from a landing page. Then check whether a new lead appears in your lead list after the message is sent, not after the click.

In Konektor.id, a lead is recorded when a message reaches a connected number. In the landing page flow, a click on the WhatsApp Link button creates a New lead, and a message that carries the code [K-XXXX] matches the chat to that lead. Without a connected number, Konektor.id records the click and does not record the chat.

Requirement 2: Is the chat linked to the ad click?

A closing helps the ad platform only if the platform knows which ad brought the buyer. The link is the click identifier. For a Click-to-WhatsApp ad, Meta provides ctwa_clid, an identifier that is unique for each click. Meta's documentation asks developers to store it with the conversation and send it back with the event.

How to test: open the detail of a test lead. Look for the click identifier in the lead data. If it is empty for a lead that came from an ad, this link does not work.

In Konektor.id, the identifier for a Click-to-WhatsApp ad is ctwa_clid from the first message. For a landing page, the identifier is fbclid, gclid, or ttclid, linked through the visitor code. The identifier stays on the lead from the first time that person contacts you.

Requirement 3: Is the closing sent from a server?

A closing happens in a chat, often hours or days after the click. The buyer may have closed the browser long ago. A send from the browser cannot catch that moment. A send from a server can.

Meta provides the Conversions API as a server-to-server connection for marketing data, including business messaging events. Other platforms have similar routes.

How to test: change one test lead to a closing, then check whether the event reaches the platform without you opening any page. Read the delivery log of that software.

In Konektor.id, the send runs on the server side: Meta through the Conversions API, Google Ads through Enhanced Conversions, TikTok through the Events API, and LinkedIn and ChatGPT Ads through their own Conversions APIs.

Requirement 4: Does it reach every ad platform you use?

Many businesses advertise on more than one platform. If the software sends to only one, the other platforms stay blind to your closings.

How to test: write down the platforms you use. Check whether the software's list covers all of them, and whether you can set the event for each platform separately.

Konektor.id sends to Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, and ChatGPT Ads. The event name follows the platform: one closing becomes Purchase on Meta and TikTok, purchase on Google Ads, PURCHASE on LinkedIn, and order_created on ChatGPT Ads. Platforms outside those five are not available.

Requirement 5: Does it prevent duplicate events?

If one closing is counted twice, your cost per result looks lower than it is. This error is common when a website pixel and a server both send Purchase.

Meta matches events from the browser and from the server by the same event name and event ID. If the same pair arrives for the same pixel within 48 hours, Meta discards the later one. The condition is that both sides use the same ID.

How to test: change the closing status twice on a test lead. Only one signal should arrive.

In Konektor.id, each built-in event goes out once for each lead, Purchase included. The second send shows Skipped in the Delivery log. One occurrence uses the same event ID on every platform. One thing stays in your hands: do not install another pixel that sends the same Purchase.

Requirement 6: Can you work out the cost per closing?

The number of chats is not enough to judge an ad. You need the ad cost, the number of closings, and their value, in the same place and for the same period.

How to test: look for one report that holds ad cost, the number of closings, and the closing value. If you must copy numbers from three places into a spreadsheet, this requirement is not met.

In Konektor.id, Report shows Closings, Closing revenue, and ROAS once ad cost is filled in. You can enter the cost by hand or pull it from Meta Ads. Ads Manager, which is in Beta, shows Cost per lead for Meta and Google. Konektor.id has no cost-per-closing card. You can divide ad cost by the number of closings yourself.

Requirement 7: Can you test it with your own data?

A neat demo does not prove the tool fits your business. Your own number, your own ads, and your own team prove it.

How to test: ask for a trial without a payment card, then run the seven steps in the set-up section. Make sure there is a log that shows what was sent, what was skipped, and what failed.

Konektor.id gives a 14-day trial, counted from the first data that reaches the workspace. Sign-up does not ask for payment details. The Delivery log uses four statuses: Queued, Sent, Failed, and Skipped.

How do you read test results without being fooled by numbers?

A test result has two layers. The first layer: does the software send the event, and does the platform receive it? The Delivery log answers that. The status Sent means the platform received the event.

The second layer: did the ad platform already report or attribute the conversion? The ad platform controls this layer, not the tracking software. The number in Ads Manager can lag behind the log, and it can differ because attribution windows differ.

Avoid two common mistakes. First, do not call a tool a failure only because a test lead without an ad click shows Skipped. In Strict mode, that result is normal. Second, do not call it a success only because a row shows Sent. Also read the click identifier and the closing value on the same lead.

If a tool passes all seven requirements on your own data, you have a stronger basis for choosing than any ranking. If another tool passes better, choose that one. The next sections summarize what Konektor.id covers and what it does not, so you can compare your test results.

Which events does Konektor.id send to your ad platform?

EventWhen it is sent
LeadSubmitted, QualifiedLead, Purchase (Meta)For a lead from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad chat, Meta receives at most one event of each kind for each lead. QualifiedLead goes out at the status Qualified, and Purchase at the status Closing.
Closing: Purchase and its equivalentsWhen the lead status becomes Closing. Meta and TikTok receive Purchase, Google Ads receives purchase, LinkedIn receives PURCHASE, and ChatGPT Ads receives order_created. The closing value goes along when you switch on Send conversion value.
Early and middle stage eventsWhen the lead status becomes New, Contacted, Responded, Qualified, Proposal, or Negotiation. The table Event for each lead status sets the event of each cell. You can change it or choose Not sent.
LeadLost (Meta) and close_unconvert_lead (Google)When the lead status becomes Loss. Use this event to exclude audiences, not to optimize. TikTok, LinkedIn, and ChatGPT Ads do not receive it.

Click identifiers: ctwa_clid, fbclid, gclid, ttclid

What do you need?

  • Record the WhatsApp chats that really arrive, not only clicks on a button or an ad.
  • Link the chat to the ad click with a click identifier such as ctwa_clid, fbclid, gclid, or ttclid.
  • Send the closing from a server to the ad platform, not from the buyer's browser.
  • Send to every ad platform you use, with an event name that fits each platform.
  • Prevent duplicate events: one closing makes one signal for each platform.
  • Show ad cost, the number of closings, and the closing value in one report, so you can work out the cost per closing.
  • Offer a test period with your own data, and a delivery log that you can read yourself.

What are the limits?

  • Konektor.id is built for businesses that close in a WhatsApp chat. A business that closes only on a checkout page, with no conversation, is not its main target.
  • Konektor.id does not decide by itself when a closing happens. Your team, an automation rule, or an API record changes the lead status to Closing. Without that change, no Purchase goes out.
  • Konektor.id sends events to five platforms: Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, and ChatGPT Ads. Other ad platforms are not available.
  • Konektor.id has no cost-per-closing card. Report shows Closings, Closing revenue, and ROAS. Cost per lead shows in Ads Manager (Beta) for Meta and Google.
  • Konektor.id does not create Click-to-WhatsApp ads. You create those ads in Meta Ads Manager.
  • The Delivery log proves that a platform received an event. It does not prove that Ads Manager already reported or attributed the conversion.
  • In Strict mode, a lead without an ad click sends no event and shows Skipped. This result is normal for an organic lead.
  • A number connected with a QR scan is not an official WhatsApp route, and WhatsApp can restrict it. Use the official WhatsApp Business connection for your main operation.

Who is it for, and who is it not for?

Good fit for

  • Businesses that close in a WhatsApp chat, such as services, travel, courses, property, or online shops with a customer service team.
  • Teams that want Meta, Google Ads, or TikTok to learn from closings, not only from clicks and chats.
  • Teams that want to test the tool with their own data during a trial before they pay.

Not a fit for

  • Businesses that close fully on a website checkout, with no WhatsApp conversation.
  • Businesses that advertise on a platform outside the five platforms named above.
  • Teams that look for a tool to create and manage Click-to-WhatsApp ads.

How do you set it up?

  1. Sign up and connect a number

Click Start the 14-day trial. Sign-up does not ask for payment details. Open the Connection menu, then connect your business WhatsApp number with Connect WhatsApp.

  2. Connect your ad platform

Open Website Tracking and add the platform that you use. For a Click-to-WhatsApp ad, open Numbers & CTWA, then click Set up CTWA on that number.

  3. Send one test chat

Send a message from a test ad or from the WhatsApp Link button on your landing page. Open Leads and check that a new lead shows up with its click identifier.

  4. Change the status to Closing

In Inbox or Leads, change the test lead to Closing and fill in the Closing value. Konektor.id sends Purchase to the connected platforms.

  5. Read the Delivery log

Open Tracking & Ads, then Conversions, then the Delivery log tab. Check the status Sent, Skipped, or Failed for each platform.

  6. Change the status once more

Set the test lead to Closing a second time. Check that the second Purchase shows Skipped and does not become a new signal.

  7. Check cost, closings, and ROAS

Enter your ad cost in Ads Spend or connect your Meta Ads account. Open Report and read Closings, Closing revenue, and ROAS.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best ad tracking software for a business that closes on WhatsApp?

No single answer fits every business. Pick the software that passes the 7 requirements on this page, then test it with your own data. Konektor.id does not claim a ranking. This page explains what Konektor.id covers and what it does not.

What is the difference between a website pixel and ad tracking software for WhatsApp?

A website pixel records page visits. A Click-to-WhatsApp ad opens no page, and the closing happens in the chat. Ad tracking software for WhatsApp records the chat and the closing, then sends them to the ad platform.

Why should the closing be sent from a server?

The closing happens in a chat, far from the buyer's browser. A server send does not depend on a page that is open. Meta offers the Conversions API as a server-to-server connection, including business messaging events.

How do duplicate events happen, and how do you prevent them?

Duplicate events happen when the same event arrives from two places, for example from a website pixel and from a server. Meta matches the event name and the event ID. Konektor.id sends each built-in event once for each lead, with the same ID for one occurrence.

Does the Konektor.id trial ask for a payment card?

No. Sign-up does not ask for payment details. The trial lasts 14 days, counted from the first data that reaches your workspace.

Does Konektor.id guarantee cheaper or better-selling ads?

No. Konektor.id sends closing signals to the ad platform. The platform decides attribution, optimization, and reporting. No tracking tool can promise ad results.

Can Konektor.id run next to a pixel or another tracking tool?

Yes, as long as the same event does not leave from two places. If a website pixel sends Purchase and the status Closing also sends Purchase, Meta can count it twice.

Which ad platforms does Konektor.id support?

Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, and ChatGPT Ads. Other platforms are not supported.
