LinkedIn Ads Tracking Software with Konektor.id

Konektor.id is LinkedIn ads tracking software for leads that close on WhatsApp. Konektor.id stores the li_fat_id of a LinkedIn ad click that arrives through your landing page. When a lead status changes, Konektor.id sends a conversion to one LinkedIn conversion rule through the Conversions API. This route fits B2B with a long sales cycle.

From Rp199.000/month. 14-day trial.

What is the problem with tracking LinkedIn ads to WhatsApp?

A B2B sale rarely closes in one visit. A decision maker sees an ad, opens your page, then sends a WhatsApp message. The price talk, the quote, and the internal approval run for weeks inside the chat.

The Insight Tag on your website sees the pages that open and the actions that happen on the website. LinkedIn knows the people who dropped by, but not who finally signed the contract in the chat. Your campaign report stops at the click or at the first chat.

LinkedIn also states its own limit. According to the LinkedIn documentation, a conversion can be attributed only to a member that LinkedIn matched with the conversion data. So each conversion needs an identifier that can be matched, and that identifier must be stored when the conversation starts.

This page explains what Konektor.id does for LinkedIn ads, what it does not do, and who should use it. It is also plain about one point: this route is built for leads that close on WhatsApp, so not every LinkedIn advertiser will fit.

A made-up example

Take a company called Kantor Contoh that sells attendance system subscriptions to factories. The names and amounts below are made up.

Ms. Sari, the operations head of a factory, taps a LinkedIn ad of Kantor Contoh. LinkedIn adds li_fat_id to the landing page address. Ms. Sari taps the WhatsApp button on that page. Konektor.id stores li_fat_id on her new lead.

The sales team answers the technical questions, then changes the status of Ms. Sari to Qualified. LinkedIn receives one conversion. Six weeks later the factory signs a contract of IDR 48,000,000. Sales changes the status to Closed won and enters the Closing value. LinkedIn receives a second conversion with that value.

How does Konektor.id track it?

The landing page route has six stages.

  1. A person taps the LinkedIn ad. When Enhanced conversion tracking is on, LinkedIn adds li_fat_id to the destination address.
  2. The tracking script on the landing page stores li_fat_id and the UTM parameters in the browser, then adds a visitor code to the WhatsApp link.
  3. The WhatsApp Link button is tapped. Konektor.id creates a New lead and stores li_fat_id on that lead.
  4. A message with the code [K-XXXX] arrives at your number. The code matches the chat to the same lead.
  5. Your team or an automation rule changes the lead status. Each change reads the Event for each lead status table.
  6. Konektor.id sends the conversion from the server to LinkedIn through the Conversions API. The result shows in the Delivery log.

The Konektor.id tracking code also loads the LinkedIn Insight Tag from the Partner ID that you save. You do not need a separate Insight Tag, unless your page already has one.

The data that goes to LinkedIn

DataUsed forForm when sent
li_fat_idLink the lead to a LinkedIn ad clickAs it is, with no hash
EmailHelp LinkedIn match the personSHA-256 hash of the lowercase email
First name and last nameExtra matching when the data existsPlain text
Company and country codeExtra matching when the data existsPlain text, two-letter country
Event IDPrevent double countingOne unique ID for each event
Value and currencyCount the value of a saleThe number from the lead, default currency IDR
Phone numberNot usedNot sent to LinkedIn

Konektor.id sends the data that the lead holds. A lead without an email can still go out when it carries li_fat_id.

Why does one conversion rule change how you set the statuses?

Konektor.id sends every conversion to one conversion rule, the rule of the Conversion ID that you save. A name such as QUALIFIED_LEAD or PURCHASE in the table is only a label on the Konektor.id side. LinkedIn judges the conversion by the type of the rule that you create in Campaign Manager.

The effect is real. If your rule has the type Purchase or Add to Cart, LinkedIn states that each event is counted on its own. A lead that passes five statuses can produce five counts.

Decide first which stage LinkedIn should count. Then open the LinkedIn Ads column in the Event for each lead status table and choose Not sent for the other statuses. For B2B, the usual choice is Qualified or Closed won.

LinkedIn offers a Qualified Leads optimization goal. According to LinkedIn, the conversion rule must have the type QUALIFIED_LEAD to be eligible for that goal, and qualified lead data must be shared within 30 days to count for ad set optimization. You choose the rule type in LinkedIn, not in Konektor.id.

Once for each event name

Konektor.id sends each built-in event name once for each lead. Qualified and Hot both use the label QUALIFIED_LEAD in the Sales type. The first status reached is sent, and the second shows Skipped in the Delivery log.

This rule keeps the number of conversions close to the number of leads. An event that you set yourself in the table does not follow this rule.

Send strategy: Strict mode or Send all

Strict mode is the default. It sends leads that carry li_fat_id or are recorded as coming from a LinkedIn ad. An organic lead shows Skipped. Send all sends every lead that qualifies. You choose it in Conversions, under Send strategy.

Under Send all, a lead with no li_fat_id and no email has a small chance to match on LinkedIn. Strict mode keeps the numbers clean.

Is LinkedIn a good fit for a business that closes on WhatsApp?

The honest answer: it fits some businesses, and not others.

This route fits when your buyers are companies or professionals, the deal value is large, and the decision involves several people. When the final negotiation happens in a WhatsApp chat, Konektor.id connects the ad click with that stage.

This route fits less when you sell a cheap product to general buyers who decide fast. LinkedIn sets the ad cost and the audience, and Konektor.id does not change them. First consider whether your buyers are really on LinkedIn.

What does Konektor.id not do for LinkedIn?

  • Konektor.id does not create or change your LinkedIn campaigns. You manage them in Campaign Manager.
  • A lead from a LinkedIn Lead Gen Form stays on LinkedIn. Konektor.id tracks leads that arrive through a landing page and WhatsApp.
  • Konektor.id does not pick the conversion rule type for you. That choice sits in LinkedIn.
  • Konektor.id does not replace the Campaign Manager report. The numbers in LinkedIn remain the numbers of your ads.

What to weigh for a long sales cycle

LinkedIn states time limits that you should know before you decide.

ItemWhat LinkedIn statesWhat Konektor.id does
When to sendSend a conversion as soon as it happens, ideally within a daySends when the lead status changes
Age of the timestampUp to 90 daysSkips an event older than 90 days
Attribution windowUp to 180 days in total for most types: 90 days of timestamp plus 90 days of attribution windowDoes not set this window. You set it in the conversion rule
Showing in the reportUp to 72 hoursRecords the delivery result in the Delivery log

So change the lead status when the stage is really reached. A status changed weeks later makes the conversion arrive late for LinkedIn.

How do you read the result in the Delivery log?

Open Tracking & Ads, then Conversions, then the Delivery log tab. Choose the LinkedIn Ads platform to see only your events.

The result has two layers. The first layer: did LinkedIn accept the request. The status Sent answers it. The second layer: did LinkedIn match the conversion with a member and attribute it to a campaign. That layer sits with LinkedIn. Campaign Manager shows the status of the conversion rule, including a warning when the match rate is low.

Things that often appear in a test:

  • A test lead with no ad click shows Skipped under Strict mode. This result is normal. It does not mean Konektor.id failed.
  • Test send uses the same conversion rule as a real delivery. A test event can show in the LinkedIn report.
  • The status Sent does not mean your ad is already counted. LinkedIn needs up to 72 hours for complete reporting.

Ad policy

Your ads still follow the LinkedIn Advertising Policies. According to those policies, the advertiser is responsible for compliance with privacy and data protection laws, and ads must not target by sensitive data. LinkedIn also advises that the Insight Tag stay off pages that collect sensitive data.

This page does not change those rules. Konektor.id sends only the conversion data that already exists on your lead. The policy links are in the Sources section.

Which events does Konektor.id send to LinkedIn Ads?

EventWhen it is sent
PAGE_VIEWWhen a lead has the status Page view or New, for example when a landing page visitor taps the WhatsApp Link button. This name is only a label in the Konektor.id table.
CONTACTWhen the lead status becomes Contacted. The Sales and Leads campaign types use the same label.
LEADWhen the lead status becomes Responded. The Sales and Leads campaign types use the same label.
QUALIFIED_LEADWhen the lead status becomes Qualified. The Sales type also uses it for Hot, so the second status shows Skipped.
REQUEST_QUOTEWhen the lead status becomes Proposal, Negotiation, or Invoice sent. Only the Sales campaign type sends it, and only once for each lead.
PURCHASEWhen the lead status becomes Closed won. The event carries a value and a currency when Send conversion value is on. The default currency is IDR.
No event for LossWhen the lead status becomes Loss, LinkedIn receives nothing.
One conversion rule for all eventsKonektor.id sends all the events above to the conversion rule of your Conversion ID. You set the type of that rule in LinkedIn Campaign Manager, not through the labels in the table.
Your own choice of eventIn the LinkedIn Ads column of the Event for each lead status table, you can choose another label for each status, or choose Not sent.

Click identifiers: li_fat_id

What do you need?

  • LinkedIn Ads is added in Website Tracking, with the Partner ID (PID), the Conversion ID, and the Access Token.
  • A conversion rule for the Conversions API method exists in LinkedIn Campaign Manager. The Conversion ID comes from that rule.
  • The Access Token comes from an account that does not hold the Viewer role on the ad account, with the permissions rw_conversions and r_ads.
  • Enhanced conversion tracking is on for your Insight Tag. After that, LinkedIn adds li_fat_id to the destination address of your ads.
  • The tracking script is installed on the landing page, and the WhatsApp button uses the Direct link of a WhatsApp Link.
  • Your business WhatsApp number is linked to Konektor.id, so a chat can be matched with a lead.
  • Your team or a rule changes the lead status. That status change triggers the delivery to LinkedIn.

What are the limits?

  • One LinkedIn Ads connection holds one Conversion ID. Every status that is sent goes to that conversion rule. Konektor.id does not pick a different rule for each status.
  • LinkedIn states that the Purchase and Add to Cart types count each event on its own. If your rule has one of these types, send only the statuses you want counted, and choose Not sent for the others.
  • Konektor.id does not send the phone number to LinkedIn. Matching uses li_fat_id and the email. A lead with neither can fail to match on LinkedIn.
  • Konektor.id reads li_fat_id from the address of the landing page or the Direct link. On a route with no landing page, Konektor.id has no chance to read li_fat_id.
  • Strict mode is the default strategy. A lead that is not proven to come from a LinkedIn ad shows Skipped in the Delivery log. This result is normal in a test without an ad.
  • Konektor.id does not send an event whose timestamp is older than 90 days. That event shows Skipped.
  • Konektor.id proves that LinkedIn accepted the request: the LinkedIn Ads row shows Sent. LinkedIn judges the match with its members and the attribution to a campaign, and it says complete reporting can take up to 72 hours.
  • Test send uses the same conversion rule as a real delivery, so a test event can show in the LinkedIn report.
  • Konektor.id sends each built-in event name once for each lead. An event that you set yourself in the table does not follow this rule.
  • Konektor.id loads the Insight Tag, but it does not send conversions from the browser. LinkedIn merges an Insight Tag event and a Conversions API event only when the eventId is the same.
  • Konektor.id does not promise cheaper ads or a set ad result.

Who is it for, and who is it not for?

Good fit for

  • B2B businesses with a large deal value and a long sales cycle, that run LinkedIn ads to a landing page and close the deal in a WhatsApp chat.
  • Sales teams that change lead statuses from Contacted to Closed won, and want the key stages to reach LinkedIn.
  • Teams that accept choosing one or two statuses to send, so that one LinkedIn conversion rule stays clean.

Not a fit for

  • Businesses with general buyers and a small deal value, whose main audience is not on LinkedIn.
  • Businesses that need a different LinkedIn conversion rule for each status inside one connection.
  • Businesses that look for a promised ad result or a set cost per result.

How do you set it up?

  1. Create a conversion rule in LinkedIn

In LinkedIn Campaign Manager, create a conversion rule for the Conversions API method. The rule shows in Measurement > Conversion Tracking. Note its Conversion ID.

  2. Turn on Enhanced conversion tracking

In Campaign Manager, open Measure > Signals manager > Insight Tag > Manage Insight Tag > Settings. Tick the enhanced conversion tracking box, then save.

  3. Add LinkedIn Ads in Website Tracking

Open Tracking & Ads > Website Tracking, then click Add ad platform. At Where do your ads appear?, choose LinkedIn Ads.

  4. Enter the Partner ID, Conversion ID, and Access Token

Enter the Pixel Name, the Partner ID (PID), the Conversion ID, and the Access Token, then click Save. Without the Conversion ID and the Access Token, Konektor.id cannot send conversions.

  5. Send one test event

Choose Test send in the LinkedIn Ads row menu, then click Send test. The message Test sent means that LinkedIn accepted the sample event.

  6. Install the tracking code on the landing page

In Website Tracking, click View code, copy the code, then paste it in the head of every landing page.

  7. Create a WhatsApp Link and place the button

Open WhatsApp Links, click Create Link, then add the destination number. Put the Direct link on the landing page button. Do not use a wa.me link.

  8. Copy the Ad link templates

In Website Tracking, open Ad link templates and choose the LinkedIn Ads tab. Enter the Landing page, click Copy, then paste the result in the destination URL field of every ad in Campaign Manager.

  9. Connect your WhatsApp number

Open Connection > Connect WhatsApp and choose the path of your number. After the connection succeeds, a chat from the landing page matches the same lead.

  10. Choose the statuses to send to LinkedIn

Open Tracking & Ads > Conversions. Choose a Campaign type, then read the LinkedIn Ads column in the Event for each lead status table. Choose Not sent for the statuses you do not want counted, then click Save changes.

  11. Test with one click from an ad

Click your ad, send a message from the WhatsApp button, then change the lead status. Open Conversions > Delivery log. A LinkedIn Ads row with the status Sent means that LinkedIn accepted the request.

Frequently asked questions

What is LinkedIn ads tracking software for WhatsApp?

It is software that stores the click identifier of a LinkedIn ad on a lead that chats on WhatsApp, then sends conversions to LinkedIn as the lead status changes. Konektor.id does this for LinkedIn ads that point to a landing page with a WhatsApp button.

Does Konektor.id use the LinkedIn Conversions API?

Yes. Konektor.id sends conversions from the server to LinkedIn through the Conversions API. You give the Partner ID, the Conversion ID, and the Access Token in Website Tracking. The conversions go to the rule of that Conversion ID.

What is li_fat_id, and where does Konektor.id get it?

li_fat_id is the first-party click ID from LinkedIn. When Enhanced conversion tracking is on, LinkedIn adds it to the landing page address. The Konektor.id tracking script reads that value from the page address, then stores it on the lead.

Which events does Konektor.id send to LinkedIn?

One conversion for each mapped status: Page view or New, Contacted, Responded, Qualified, Proposal through Invoice sent, and Closed won. The status Loss sends nothing. All conversions go to one LinkedIn conversion rule.

Is the phone number of a lead sent to LinkedIn?

No. Konektor.id sends li_fat_id, the email as a SHA-256 hash, and other data that the lead holds, such as the name, the company, and the country code. LinkedIn matching depends on li_fat_id and the email.

Why does my LinkedIn event show Skipped in the Delivery log?

The most common cause: Strict mode is on, and the lead carries no li_fat_id from a LinkedIn ad click. Other causes: that event name was already sent for the lead, or the event timestamp is older than 90 days.

Is LinkedIn a good fit for a business that closes on WhatsApp?

It fits when your buyers are businesses or professionals, the deal value is large, and the decision takes time. For small sales to general buyers, the LinkedIn audience often does not match. Test with a small budget before you raise your ad spend.

How long until a conversion shows in the LinkedIn report?

LinkedIn states that processing takes up to 24 hours, plus up to 48 hours for reporting, so up to 72 hours in total. The Sent status in Konektor.id shows first, when LinkedIn accepts the request.

Can a conversion count twice if I also use the Insight Tag?

It can, if you create your own Insight Tag conversion for the same action. LinkedIn merges the two routes only when the eventId is the same, and Konektor.id does not send conversions from the browser. Use a separate conversion rule for each route.
