Google Ads Tracking Software with Konektor.id
Konektor.id is Google Ads tracking software for businesses that close sales on WhatsApp. A click on a Google ad that passes through a landing page carries gclid, and each lead status change is uploaded straight to Google Ads through the Google Ads API. Konektor.id uses no browser tag, and attribution reports stay in Google.
From Rp199.000/month. 14-day trial.
What is the problem with tracking Google ads to WhatsApp?
Many Google ads end in a conversation. A person searches on Google, taps an ad, opens a landing page, and then writes to your support team. The price is discussed and the payment is made on WhatsApp. Google takes no part in that conversation.
A tag on your website sees only the pages that open. Google knows the person who visited, but it does not know the person who paid in the end. Your ad report stops at the click or at the first chat.
The import guide of Google requires a Google Click ID on every conversion that comes from a click. So you need to keep the click identifier with the lead data, then send it back when the lead becomes a sale. Konektor.id does both for you.
A fictional example
Picture a course called Kursus Contoh. It runs a Google search ad to a landing page with the class schedule. The names and numbers below are fictional.
A prospect named Budi searches for a class, taps the ad, opens the landing page, and taps the WhatsApp button. Auto-tagging already added a gclid to the page address. Konektor.id stores the gclid with Budi's new lead. Support answers the schedule question, then changes Budi's status to Qualified. Google Ads receives a qualify_lead upload.
Three days later Budi pays Rp2.500.000. Support changes the status to Closed won and enters the Closing value. Google Ads receives a purchase upload with the value. Kursus Contoh now has a conversion that points to one specific ad click.
How does Konektor.id track it?
The route runs in seven stages.
- A person taps the Google ad. Auto-tagging adds gclid to the destination address. For a click that moves between an iOS app and a web page, the address can carry wbraid or gbraid.
- The tracking script on the landing page stores the click identifier and the UTM parameters, then adds the visitor code to the WhatsApp link.
- The WhatsApp Link button is tapped. Konektor.id creates a lead with the status New and stores the gclid, wbraid, and gbraid of that click.
- A message with the code
[K-XXXX]arrives at your number. The code matches the chat to the same lead. - Your team or an automation rule changes the lead status. Each change reads the Event for each lead status table.
- Konektor.id uploads the conversion from the server to the conversion type you chose in Google Ads.
- The result shows in the Delivery log, with the status Sent, Failed, or Skipped.
The Direct link from WhatsApp Links reads gclid, wbraid, and gbraid from the address that was clicked. So put the Direct link on the landing page button, and test with one click before the ads go live.
The data sent to Google Ads
| Data | Used for | Form when sent |
|---|---|---|
gclid | Linking the lead to the Google ad click | As is, no hash |
wbraid or gbraid | Stand-in when there is no gclid | As is, no hash |
| Helping Google match the person | SHA-256 hash | |
| Phone number | Helping Google match the person | SHA-256 hash, E.164 format |
| Transaction ID | Preventing a double upload | One unique ID for each event |
| Event time | Marking when the status changed | UTC time |
| Value and currency | Counting the closing value | Number from the lead, default currency IDR |
Konektor.id sends only the data that the lead holds. A lead without an email still goes out with its gclid or phone number.
Strict mode and Send all on this route
Strict mode is the default. On the Google Ads API route, Strict mode lets through a lead that has a gclid, an email, or a phone number. A lead that has none of the three shows Skipped.
This rule differs from TikTok or Meta. A test lead without an ad click still goes out if it has a phone number. Google decides whether that contact data matches a click on your ad. Send all sends every lead that has any identity.
Why does Konektor.id upload directly instead of using a browser tag?
A browser tag records only what happens on a page. The WhatsApp conversation happens outside the page, so the tag does not see it. A direct upload carries the result of the conversation from the Konektor.id server to Google Ads, without waiting for the visitor to open a page again.
The Google Ads API documentation describes gclid as the identifier taken from the address parameters when a user taps an ad. The same documentation says that a conversion with only hashed user data is still useful. Konektor.id uses both: gclid when it exists, and the hashed email or phone number as an addition.
GA4 or the Google Ads API?
Konektor.id has two routes for Google. The GA4 route sends events to Google Analytics, then you import them into Google Ads. This route needs ga_client_id when the event is sent.
The Google Ads API route uploads to Google Ads directly and uses the conversion type ID. For the landing page to WhatsApp flow, the Konektor.id guide recommends the second route. You pick the route in the Delivery Mode field in Website Tracking.
How do you stop every status from counting as a conversion?
On the Google Ads API route, Konektor.id sends each mapped status as a separate upload. If you use one conversion type ID for all statuses, all uploads go to the same conversion type.
That means the statuses New, Contacted, and Loss go to the same place as Closed won. The event name in the table decides only when Konektor.id sends, and what shows in the Delivery log. The name does not choose the conversion type in Google Ads.
There are three ways to keep your numbers clean.
- Choose Not sent in the Google Ads cell for a status that must not become a conversion. Loss is the clearest example.
- Enter a conversion type ID per status in the Event for each lead status table. One conversion type for Qualified and one for Closed won lets Google keep the two apart.
- Use the Leads preset if you need only new leads, qualified leads, and closings.
A cell with its own conversion type ID counts as an event that you set yourself. Konektor.id does not limit it to one time per lead.
How do you read the result in the Delivery log?
Open Tracking & Ads, then Conversions, then the Delivery log tab. Choose the platform Google Ads to see the Google events only.
The result has two layers. The first layer: did Google accept the upload. The status Sent answers it. The second layer: does the Google Ads report show and attribute the conversion. That layer is in the hands of Google. The Google import guide says data can take 24 to 48 hours to show fully.
A few things often appear during a test:
- A new conversion type needs time before it takes uploads. The Google import guide advises you to wait 4 to 6 hours after you create a new conversion type.
- The test send checks the account and the conversion type, but it does not prove that the tracking code is on the landing page.
- A Failed row marks an upload that Google rejected. Check the conversion type and the account connection, then click Resend on that row.
- The status Sent does not mean your ad is already counted in the report. Check the Goals > Conversions page in Google Ads too.
One condition concerns your account. The Google documentation lists a prerequisite for hashed user data: the account turns on enhanced conversions for leads and accepts the customer data terms. If that setting is off, Konektor.id still uploads with the gclid, but it leaves out the email and the phone number.
How do the Google ad policies apply?
Your ads still follow the Google ad policies. This page does not change those rules. Google asks advertisers to comply with applicable law and with its ad policies in every place where the ads appear.
Konektor.id only uploads conversion data that your lead already holds. You are responsible for the basis on which you collect customer data, including email and phone number. The policy link is in the Sources section.
Which events does Konektor.id send to Google Ads?
| Event | When it is sent |
|---|---|
| generate_lead | When a lead reaches the status New, for example when a landing page visitor taps the WhatsApp Link button. The Sales and Leads presets use the same name. |
| working_lead | When the lead status becomes Contacted or Responded. The Sales preset also uses it for Hot, Proposal, and Negotiation. The name is sent once per lead, so a later status shows Skipped. |
| qualify_lead | When the lead status becomes Qualified. The Sales and Leads presets use the same name. |
| add_payment_info | When the lead status becomes Invoice sent. Only the Sales preset sends it. The Leads preset sends nothing for this status. |
| purchase | When the lead status becomes Closed won. The upload carries the value and the currency when Send conversion value is on. The default currency is IDR. |
| close_unconvert_lead | When the lead status becomes Loss. This upload goes to the same conversion type. Choose Not sent in the Loss cell if you do not want Google to receive it. |
| Your own choice | In the Event for each lead status table, you can pick another standard Google event for each status, choose Not sent, or enter a conversion type ID for one status only. |
Click identifiers: gclid, wbraid, gbraid
What do you need?
- A Google Ads account connected under Ad Analytics > Ad Spend > Manage Connections, through a Google login that has access to the ad account or to the manager account.
- Auto-tagging is on in the Google Ads account, so each click carries gclid to the destination address.
- A conversion type in Google Ads that takes uploads from clicks, and you know its conversion type ID, which is the number after ctId= in the address of its detail page.
- Google Ads is added in Website Tracking with the Delivery Mode Google Ads API (Offline Conversion), with a Google Ads Integration and a conversion type ID.
- The tracking script is installed on the landing page, and the WhatsApp button uses the Direct link from WhatsApp Links.
- Your business WhatsApp number is connected to Konektor.id, so a chat matches the lead that carries the gclid.
- Your team or a rule changes the lead status. The status change triggers the upload to Google Ads.
What are the limits?
- Konektor.id uploads after the lead status changes. Konektor.id does not install a Google tag on your website, and it does not send online conversions from a checkout page.
- This route needs gclid, wbraid, or gbraid from an ad click. Without a click identifier, Konektor.id sends only the hashed email and phone number, and only when your account has enhanced conversions for leads on.
- Strict mode lets through a lead that has a gclid, an email, or a phone number. A lead without a Google ad still goes out if it has a phone number. Konektor.id does not prove that Google ties it to your ad.
- Konektor.id sends to one default conversion type for all statuses. If early statuses and Loss go out too, they all reach the same conversion type. Set this per status in the Event for each lead status table.
- When Google accepts the request but rejects part of the data, the row shows Failed, and Konektor.id does not retry it on its own. You can send it again from the Delivery log.
- Konektor.id proves that Google accepted the upload: the Google Ads row has the status Sent. Konektor.id does not prove the report or the attribution in Google Ads, which can take 24 to 48 hours.
- Google controls access to conversion upload through the API. From 15 June 2026, upload requests fail for a developer token with no upload history. Check the Delivery log after Send test. Konektor.id does not promise that this mode works on every account.
- Konektor.id does not promise cheaper ads or any specific ad result.
Who is it for, and who is it not for?
Good fit for
- Businesses that run Google ads to a landing page, then to a WhatsApp button, and close the sale in chat.
- Teams that want Google to learn which click ended as a buyer, not only which click became a chat.
- Support teams that change the lead status and want each key change to reach a Google Ads conversion type.
Not a fit for
- Businesses that close entirely on a website checkout page and are fine with the standard Google tag.
- Businesses whose ads open WhatsApp directly with no landing page or Direct link, so no gclid is stored.
- Businesses that look for a promise of ad results or a set cost per result.
How do you set it up?
Connect your Google Ads account
Open Ad Analytics > Ad Spend, then click Manage Connections. Click Add New Account, choose Google Ads (Beta), log in, pick the ad account, then click Next and Connect & Sync.
Turn on auto-tagging
In Google Ads, open Account settings and the Auto-tagging section. Tick Tag the URL that people click through from my ad, then save.
Prepare a conversion type and copy its ID
In Google Ads, open Goals > Conversions and create a conversion type from clicks. Open its detail page, then copy the number after ctId= in the address of that page.
Choose the Google Ads API mode in Website Tracking
Open Tracking & Ads > Website Tracking, click Add ad platform, then choose Google Ads. Choose the Delivery Mode Google Ads API (Offline Conversion), fill in Google Ads Integration and Conversion type ID, then click Save.
Send one test event
Choose Send test in the Google Ads row menu, then click Send test. The message Test sent means that your account and conversion type passed the check.
Install the tracking code and the WhatsApp Link button
In Website Tracking, click View Code and paste the code in the head of the landing page. Open WhatsApp Links, click Create Link, then put the Direct link on the landing page button.
Paste the tracking template in Google Ads
In Website Tracking, open Ad link templates, enter the Landing page, and click Copy. Paste the result in the Tracking template field at account or campaign level.
Connect your WhatsApp number
Open Connection > Connect WhatsApp and choose the path of your number. After the connection succeeds, a chat from the landing page matches the same lead.
Set the event for each lead status
Open Tracking & Ads > Conversions. Choose a Campaign type, then read the Google Ads column in the Event for each lead status table. Choose Not sent for a status that must not count, or enter a conversion type ID for a status, then click Save changes.
Test with one click from an ad
Click your ad, send a message from the WhatsApp button, then change the lead status to Closed won. Open Conversions > Delivery log. A Google Ads row with the status Sent means that Google accepted the upload.

Frequently asked questions
What is Google Ads tracking software for WhatsApp?
Software that stores the gclid of a Google ad click with the WhatsApp lead, then uploads the result of the conversation to Google Ads when the lead status changes. Konektor.id does this for ads that pass through a landing page and a WhatsApp Link button.
Does Konektor.id install a Google tag on my website?
No. By default, the Konektor.id script does not load the browser tag of an ad platform. The upload to Google Ads runs from the Konektor.id server after the lead status changes. If you already run your own Google tag, leave it where it is.
What is the difference between the GA4 route and the Google Ads API route in Konektor.id?
The GA4 route sends events to Google Analytics and needs ga_client_id, and then you import them into Google Ads. The Google Ads API route uploads conversions straight to Google Ads with gclid or hashed contact data. This page covers the second route.
Are wbraid and gbraid sent too?
Yes. Konektor.id stores gclid, wbraid, and gbraid from the address that was clicked. Konektor.id sends gclid when it exists. When there is no gclid, Konektor.id sends wbraid or gbraid.
Are the email and the phone number sent as a hash?
Yes. On the Google Ads API route, Konektor.id sends the email and phone number of the lead as a SHA-256 hash. Konektor.id does not send a name or an address on this route. Your account must have enhanced conversions for leads on for Google to take them.
Why does my Google event show Skipped in the Delivery log?
Common causes: the lead has no gclid, no email, and no phone number; the Google Ads account has enhanced conversions for leads off and the lead has no gclid; or Google Ads already received the same event name for that lead.
Is the conversion type ID the same as the Conversion ID or the Conversion Label?
No. The conversion type ID is the number after ctId= in the address of the conversion type detail page in Google Ads. The Conversion ID and the Conversion Label come from the online tag, and the Google Ads API route does not use them.
When does a conversion show in the Google Ads report?
Sent in the Delivery log means that Google accepted the upload. The Google import guide says data can take 24 to 48 hours to show fully in reports. Konektor.id does not control that time.
