What is a Rotator? Splitting Inbound Chats Across Numbers
Also known as: whatsapp rotator, link rotator, round robin
Short answer
A rotator is one link that splits inbound chats across several numbers or agents in turn. You use one link in every ad, and the split is managed behind it without editing any ad.
The most valuable uses
| Use | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Spreading chat load | No single agent is swamped |
| Changing numbers without editing ads | Live ads stay untouched |
| Swapping out a troubled number | Chats keep arriving while one number is down |
| Measuring per-agent performance | Closing rates become comparable |
What to check
- The click marker is forwarded. Click your own ad and inspect the final link.
- Destination numbers are live. A dead number wastes the whole day budget.
- Weights match capacity. An agent on leave must be taken out of the rotation.
Frequently asked questions
- Why use a rotator instead of linking one number directly?
- Because one number has a limit on how many people it can serve. A rotator spreads the load, and more importantly it lets you change numbers without editing live ads.
- Does a rotator break ad tracking?
- Not if the click marker is forwarded through the redirect. What breaks tracking is a redirect that strips URL parameters. Confirm the Click ID and UTMs survive to the final link.
- How do I split chats unevenly?
- Give each number a different weight, so an experienced agent takes a larger share. Measure closing rate per agent so the weights come from data rather than instinct.
