What is Dynamic Creative? How It Works and Its Limits
Also known as: dynamic creative, DCO, Advantage+ Creative
Short answer
Dynamic Creative lets you supply several images, headlines, and body texts to one ad, then lets the system test the combinations itself and show each person the one most likely to work.
How it works
You supply ingredients rather than a finished ad:
- Several images or videos
- Several headlines
- Several body texts
- Several calls to action
The system assembles combinations and shows each person the one most likely to work.
Limits worth remembering
| Limit | Effect |
|---|---|
| One ad per ad set | Changing creative means creating a new ad set |
| Paused ads still count | Pausing does not free the slot |
| Reporting per element, not per combination | Coarser analysis |
| Weak ingredients stay weak | The system assembles, it does not improve |
Frequently asked questions
- What is the benefit?
- You do not need to build many separate ads to test combinations. The system tests more possibilities in less time than manual testing.
- What limit surprises people?
- A Dynamic Creative ad set accepts one ad only, paused ads included. To change the creative you must create a new ad set. Prefix the old one clearly so reports stay readable.
- Can reporting show which combination won?
- Some platforms break results down per element rather than per whole combination. So you learn which headline worked, but not always which headline and image pairing was best.
